New Stair Lifts
New Stairlifts come with a number of benefits, perhaps the biggest of which is the peace of mind that comes with the knowledge you are fully covered against accidental breakdown. There are now many different new stairlift models available from seven different manufacturers in the UK. With so many choices available it is no wonder that the process of buying a stairlift can be both confusing and time consuming. Stairlift suppliers are here to help you make the right choice and to save you time and money. Below we have listed the major pros and cons of buying new stairlifts.
Why buy a new stairlift?
- All new stairlifts come with Manufacturer's Warranty (Normally 12+ months
but can be up to 5 years) which is likely to be longer than that of a
reconditioned stairlift.
- They are brought directly from the manufacturer, so if there are any problems they can be easily fixed.
- New Stairlifts tend to be more reliable
- the last thing you want to worry about is the stairlift breaking down.
- If a problem does occur parts are more readily available, than with reconditioned stairlifts.
- New Stairlifts come with a greater range of options (Swivel seat, sit and stand frame etc) and can be
more easily customised to meet the individuals needs. Helping to ensure you get a lift that suits your own
individual needs.
What are the negatives to
buying a new stairlift?
- They are more expensive than reconditioned stairlifts. However, some companies are able to offer new
stair lifts at prices that are not much greater than reconditioned stairlifts.
- Occasionally, new stairlifts may require a couple of weeks usage before they have a completely
smooth motion. This only occurs in a very small percentage of cases.
- Despite costing more than reconditioned stairlifts the buy back price offered for a new stairlift is likely to be no better than for a reconditioned stairlift.
What about the cost difference between new and reconditioned stairlifts?
This varies depending on whether you need a straight or curved lift, see below:
- Straight Stairlifts - there is generally not a lot of difference between buying a new straight
or a reconditioned straight stairlift. Typically a new straight will be
around £300-500 more than a reconditioned straight stairlift. Many
people feel that for their peace of mind it is worth buying a new straight
stairlift.
- Curved stairlifts
- with curved lifts there can be a much greater price difference between new
and reconditioned stairlifts. Typically a new curved lift may be around
£1,500-£2,000 more than a reconditioned curved stairlift. Because of
the large saving on buying a reconditioned curved stairlift many people
choose a reconditioned curved lift over buying a brand-new curved stairlift.
